Description
These Custom Directional Signs with an added picture can be used to remember your loved ones who are far away, that favorite vacation spot, or to show directions to events.
If you have an idea, but are not sure about it, contact us and we can help you design a sign that is perfect for you.
Sign Specs
- These signs are made from rustic reclaimed wood, so they will have variations in color and texture. They may have old nail holes and knots, but that is what gives them character.
- They are lightly sanded to make for a smoother writing surface but retain the character of the wood.
- We then put your message on them in your choice of fonts and colors. (see choices in photos)
- We hand paint a picture of your choice on your sign. (see pictures for examples)
- The signs are then sealed with clear, matte sealant to resist the elements.
- Our signs are 3/8 to 5/8 of an inch thick by 3 1/4 to 3 3/4 inches tall, in lengths from 6″ to 36″.
- Unless told otherwise (in the “Note for Nikki” section above), we will drill 2 holes in the middle of each sign and include screws for mounting. (we do recommend pre-drilling so that the wood does not split.)
- Our production time on this product is 1-2 weeks, and they will ship First Class or Priority Mail (depending on the weight and size). If you need it faster, please contact us and we will let you know what we can do.
Ordering Process
Do this for each of the signs you would like to order.

- If you order a shorter or longer sign, I will adjust the lettering to fit.
- Sign Shape

- Double-check the spelling, capitalization, and punctuation, as I will write it just as it appears.
- Picture Description
- Describe what you would like the picture to look like. I will find pictures for you to look at and choose from. (If you have pictures, you can email them to me at nikki@narleyandchikki.com.)
- Anything else I need to know?
- If you have any questions (about sign length, custom fonts, custom colors, etc.) please don’t hesitate to Contact us.
- If you have any special instructions about your sign, etc., type them into the “Note for Nikki” section above.
I will send you a mock-up proof of your sign before I make it. If anything does not look the way you would like, we can make any changes at that time.
If you would like to see what your sign would look like before ordering, feel free to Contact us with the specs and we will do a mock-up to show you.
Care Instructions
- Your sign(s) will arrive ready to hang. They have been sealed with Rustoleum Clear Matte Sealant. As with most outdoor wood sealants, it should protect your sign for a year or more (depending on the elements).
- We would suggest resealing your sign(s) every year or whenever you see any weathering. We chose Rustoleum Clear Matte Sealant because it is easy to find (most hardware stores carry it), it is inexpensive, and it is very easy to apply… just a quick spray and it is good for another year.
If there is something you would like to change
This listing is for plain wood signs with Commercial Fonts. If you would like something different, please take a look at the other sign types in our “Custom Signpost Signs” section, or contact me with your idea, or a picture, and we can start making something unique, just for you.Â
Our favorite part about owning our own business is working with customers to make a product that is perfect for them.
Stakes and Signposts
- We make stakes in lengths from 2-6 feet. They can be left bare wood, stained, or painted to coordinate with your signs.
- We also make signposts with stands that allow you to use our signs in places where you can’t drive a stake into the ground.
